MathEvery day in math we work on "Intentional Problem Solving" aka IPS. Solving word problems helps students connect math concepts to everyday life. We also work daily on identifying and counting money. Click here for some additional ideas for helping your child improve their math skills at home. |
Reading and WritingReading: Students have learned to pick "good fit" books for independent reading and should be reading (or listening to reading) at home every day for 20 minutes. Spelling: Students will bring home a leveled spelling list every Friday. Tests will be the following Friday. Writing: Writing is encouraged across all subjects. There is a significant body of research that connects work with pencil and paper to retention of new skills and brain development. |
Science/Social StudiesScience: In the spring we investigate plants and observe their parts and life cycle. We also learn to classify animals and choose a mammal for class reports. Social Studies: We continue to explore the concepts of past, present and future by studying Texas history. We will also learn about famous inventors and how their inventions impact our lives today. |

Fridays are our "testing" days. We will be collecting progress data on those days so it is very important that students arrive on time and well rested.
My Goal
Every child will know that they have immeasurable value, dignity and worth, and are a vital part of our community.
About MeHello Families!
Inspiring curiosity and helping children achieve their full potential and are passions of mine! I earned my Bachelor’s in Elementary Education from UT San Antonio in 1994 and my Master’s in Bioethics from Trinity Graduate School in 2013. For 20+ years I worked in nonprofit organizations and for the University of Arizona teaching teen parents, running an Early Intervention program and providing health, safety and inclusion consultation for child care centers. We left the desert and moved to Texas in 2015 and I took the opportunity to make a change. I began teaching ALS at Flower Mound Elementary in 2017 and fell in love! My mission is to ensure that every child knows they have infinite worth and value. When they leave my class I want them to have the skills and confidence to conquer the world! |
